Training course for the Catechesis of The Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

is a program based on the belief

that children have a natural desire

to be in relationship with God.

The atrium is a prepared environment

where the child has the opportunity

to express heartfelt personal faith,

to worship, to hear the Word of God,

and to put faith in motion by

interacting within the prepared environment.

In the atrium the child is

honored, nurtured,

and given a place for experiential activity,

reflection, and expression.

The sensitive period of faith development and experience rests within the young child. The Prepared Environment for the Catechesis program, called an Atrium is designed to meet the developmental processes, including spiritual formation of children as young as three years old. The Level 1 Atrium is for three to six year old children.

It has been observed that children, even from the earliest age, eagerly seek religious experience in its deepest, most essential elements.  When these conditions are present, young children live their relationship with God in enchanted wonder and profound joy which gives them peace in the satisfaction of a deep and vital need.  It seems the vital need is for relationship, which the Bible expresses as “covenant”.
